Sheff Utd fans serenade record signing Berge with hilarious new chant

Sheffield United fans have already taken new Norwegian signing Sander Berge to their hearts with a brilliant new chant - that was thought up by striker Billy Sharp.

The Blades smashed their transfer record to sign midfielder Berge for £22million from Belgian club Genk as the team pushes for a place in Europe next season.

An outstanding campaign for Chris Wilder's team continued on Saturday with a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace that lifted United into fifth place for 24 hours.

And the fans are starting to dream of playing in the UEFA Europa League - or quite possibly the Champions League - for the first time.

As Berge came over to the visiting fans at Selhurst Park, he was serenaded by a new song to the tune of She's Electric by Oasis.

And the Blades' official Twitter account revealed that Sharp was the inspiration behind the lyrics, which also hail team-mates John Egan, James Norwood and John Fleck.

They posted a grab of a WhatsApp thread that features Sharp singing the song down the phone shortly after Berge completed his move to Bramall Lane last week.

Berge was all smiles as the fans sang to him and expressed his delight at the new song.

He said: 'The way they thanked me after the game was a goosebump moment for me, singing the song and enjoying the first win.

'It was a hilarious song. Billy at first took it up in the dressing room, he was singing and welcoming me in that way and that was special for me. I will never forget that moment.'

The Blades won at Palace thanks to an own goal by keeper Vicente Guaita on the hour mark and moved up to fifth before Tottenham's 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday saw them drop to sixth.

'It gave everybody a lift,' Wilder said of Berge. 'When you bring in people in January, it raises the bar for the other players. It certainly has done this week and it will do going into the second part of the season.

'We've got genuine competition all over the park and players have got to rise to that challenge.

'That's why I was thrilled with John Lundstram and his attitude to it (being dropped for Berge). He came on today and showed, 'You're going to have a problem here'. I expect that from everybody.'
