Sheffield Wednesday are poised to name Steve Bruce as their new manager in the next 24 hours.
The vastly-experienced Bruce has been Wednesday's top target to succeed Jos Luhukay following the Dutchman's sacking last month after just under a year in charge at Hillsborough.
Talks between Bruce and Wednesday executives have been ongoing since Luhukay's departure and his coaching assistants, Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, were in attendance as Wednesday beat Preston last week.
An agreement has now been reached with the former Aston Villa boss on a contract understood to be worth around £2m a year and he will take charge ahead of the weekend's FA Cup tie with Luton Town.
Wednesday will become the tenth managerial role for Bruce, who turned 58 on New Year's Eve.
Owner Dejphon Chansiri has said he will sell the club should he receive a suitable offer but his asking price is understood to be prohibitive.

He may be one of the 'merry-go-round' managers but his record in the Championship can't be questioned. Yes he struggled with Villa but they had other issues going on.

All the best to Bruce. As a Villa fan wish him all the best. Wasn't his fault that Villa did not get promoted and he could have left in the summer but still stayed. He'll do well in Yorkshire as he's an honest man who had a tough year losing both parents and missing out on promotion.

Good championship manager, bad choice of club. They're for sale so he won't last long even if he does a good job cos the new owners'll want their own man. He'll be compensated though, on the other hand I think he's being quite clever.
