Former Manchester United star Teddy Sheringham reflected on his glittering career and the best players he played with.
On the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Champions League victory and Sheringham's crucial interventions against Bayern Munich, the 53-year-old singled out two team-mates for praise from his playing career.
'I often get asked about who the best players I have played with and he [Keane] was one of the two that I always mention,' he told TalkSPORT.
'He was the driving force of Manchester United’s team at the time. With all the fantastic players we had at Manchester United, if he wasn’t playing, he made a difference.
'If any of the others weren’t playing, we fitted around the situation and made it work. But Roy made a difference, even if he wasn’t having a good game, he would drive other people on and would make sure other people were doing their jobs.
'He knew when to slow the game down and knew when to speed the game up.'
Sheringham went on to add that Keane had an instinct for when his side needed livening up with a thunderous challenge.
'He knew when to have a nasty tackle, he knew when to calm it down and just put the frighteners on their main man as such and show you who’s boss,' he added.
'That’s what football was all about in the Premier League and European football as well. You have to stamp your authority sometimes and he was our main man and leader.
'Sheringham is then asked if Keane is one of two, who was the other? The former striker simply responded: 'Gazza.'

Despise Man U....however Keane in his playing days was from another planet! Keane would not have stood for the antics of today's players, he would have kicked the likes of Martial, Pogba, up and down the training pitch!
I can actually picture the training field with bits of pogba n rashford all over the place and him strangling lingard, Keane's veins popping from his forehead as he checked him ...
