Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that the FA Cup is Manchester United's best chance at winning some silverware this season.

The interim United manager is keen to take his side all the way to Wembley and has got off to a good start as his side currently lead Reading 2-0 at half-time in their third-round clash at Old Trafford.

With United trailing  Premier League leaders Liverpool by 16 points, Solskjaer knows that the FA Cup is a good opportunity to win a trophy during his short stay at the club, should he not be offered the job permanently in the summer.

Before United's game with Reading, Solskjaer revealed he's loved his brilliant start at the club after winning all four of his games.

He told BT Sport: 'It's been a hectic couple of weeks but it's been fantastic and now the FA Cup is a great competition to be in and you can win at the end as it is a trophy we can go for.

'I'm going to enjoy it however long it is going to be. Five months, four months, three months – it doesn't matter. I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I'm here. If you don't enjoy being at Man United, you're not going to enjoy working in football.'

The Norwegian boss has been touted as United's next possible manager if the club are unable to lure Mauricio Pochettino away from Tottenham but Solskjaer insisted that he's not thinking about his future.

He continued: 'I'm not thinking about the job prospects but of course [I'm thinking about] trophies, yeah.

'You've got this one [FA Cup] and the Champions League, I don't think you can make up too many points in the league so this is probably the biggest chance we've got at a trophy.

'And we've pointed it out to the lads how nice it is to run out at Wembley for a final.'
