Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit out at referee Anthony Taylor's decision to book Daniel James for diving, during the Red Devils 6-2 win over Leeds.

In the 52nd minute the Welshman was cautioned after his impressive solo run which started in his own half; was halted after a duel with Liam Cooper.

Taylor booked the 23-year-old for diving, however footage showed there was contact initiated by the Leeds defender as James burst into the box.

'For me it's either a penalty or a free-kick for Dan and he gets a yellow card for diving - that's shocking refereeing.' Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

The Manchester United boss paid tribute to his side's attitude in matching Leeds' high-energy approach, adding: 'That was fantastic from the first minute.

'We had a plan to get after them and go forward when we got the ball, and Scott gets two goals in the first three minutes which is a great start.

'We had to earn the right to win it by running just as much or more than them, so that was a challenge against one of the fittest teams in the league.

'You know it's going to be frantic, hectic against them, because no matter what the result is they have a certain attitude and style that makes you have to work.'

The Red Devils are now up to third in the league, five points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.

Next up for Solskjaer's side is a trip to Everton in the Carabao Cup quarter finals on Wednesday, they then travel to the King Power to face Leicester on Saturday lunch time.
