Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hold 'crisis talks' with Ed Woodward to push through the signing of Harry Maguire following the injury to Eric Bailly.

Bailly has been ruled out for around five months after suffering a knee injury against Tottenham in the pre-season win for United on Thursday.

And the Sun report that Solskjaer will now ask his chief executive to increase efforts to bring Maguire to Old Trafford.

The Norwegian enjoyed a friendly win over Kristiansund in his hometown on Tuesday night.

And after the game he spoke about Bailly's injury and the prognosis for the Ivorian.

'Bailly will miss the best part of four or five months,' he said. Hopefully we’ll get him back around Christmas.

'It was positive news from the surgeon that it was all repaired and he’ll be fine.'

Solskjaer is desperate to sure up the defence this season and sees Maguire as a potential cornerstone of his back four.

The Foxes want a world record fee for him, exceeding the £75million Liverpool splashed out for Virgil van Dijk.

Negotiations appear to have stalled but perhaps the injury to Bailly will accelerate proceedings.
