Souness slams 'disgraceful' Xhaka for giving away obvious penalty

Graeme Souness has slammed Arsenal defender Granit Xhaka for giving away a clear penalty against Tottenham in the north London derby.

The first half went from bad to worse for Arsenal as Harry Kane converted a penalty to make it 2-0 after an early goal from Christian Eriksen.

Xhaka slid in two-footed on Son Heung-min in the box, leaving the referee no option but to point to the spot.

Speaking on Sky Sports at half-time, Souness didn't have any sympathy for the Arsenal defender.

'This is something you learn in your first week as a professional footballer, stay on your feet at all times,' he said.

'Especially in the box, it's an invitation for Son to go down... Xhaka is 26-years-old, disgraceful.'

Gary Neville also showed his frustration at the bad challenge, and the fact that Xhaka continually seems to give away fouls.

'It's absolute madness from Xhaka. He does it week in, week out. Season after season. He doesn't seem to learn.'

Kane struck the penalty hard into the bottom left corner, sending Bernd Leno the wrong way and putting his team two goals up.

Arsenal did get one goal back just before half-time, as Alexandre Lacazette took two excellent touches before smashing the ball into the net to make it 2-1.
