The midfielder is set to make his international bow tomorrow for a coach that has known his potential for some time
“He’s a quality player, an intelligent footballer, presses well, has a real eye for goal, good quality. So, nothing I’ve seen surprises me at all,” the former Middlesbrough manager told a press conference.
“We’ve had him marked as a player from the first time I saw him at St George’s Park. Chelsea would be the same on that, I think.
“Of course he’s now been able to have the opportunity to play in the Premier League and display that against top teams. I think you saw his penalty in the Super Cup [against Liverpool], that was a nice cameo of what he’s about, really.”
"I think I’ve spoken for a couple of years now about the quality of young players coming through our academies,” he added.
“Chelsea have been at the forefront of that, winning the Uefa Youth League and FA Youth Cup consistently.
“So it’s a shame, maybe, one or two of their youngsters didn’t get that opportunity and have had to go and play elsewhere and might have missed that moment that has been perfect for the likes of Tammy and Mason.
“It’s great timing for them because they’ve had those loan spells and they were probably ready to take that opportunity. So, as a young player, you’ve got ability, you’ve got the work you do but, in the end, you need the opportunity.”

Mason Mount’s considered the long term replacement for David Silva, who iirc only has two years left on his deal. If Foden is 21 and still playing a few hundred PL minutes a season it’ll be a concern imo but he’s farther along than guys like Winks and RLC were at his age imo
it is only a dream.. we, chelsea fan know, he is really passionate about chelsea like lampard was. so stop dreaming

Mate Mason Mount played in the Dutch league two seasons ago and had an amazing second half of the season.

Mason Mount has announced already that he's leaving at the end of this season

Mason Mount is the kind of player England have been desperately needing for multiple tournaments now. Having him, Loftus Cheek, and others (Barnes, Grealish maybe) available might signal the end of an England team that has always seemed ponderous in possession.

I hope Mason Mount gets a call up after December when he’s played more. Don’t think he’ll make the euros squad but he’s too young and inexperienced to play in a major tournament. Would love to see him get a game or some minutes in a friendly or qualifier tho, feels like it’s been ages since an arsenal player played for England.

Mason Mount's usually really good for England though.

Mason Mount really flies under the radar. I'm a massive fan of him despite us playing him out of position every week. Works so hard and is technically superb.

Mason Mount's been much better for England than Alli in recent years. Maddison hasn't even played a senior game.

Willock looked lively in his 10 mins in the Europa final, think Mason Mount's got good potential. I felt the same about Chelsea for ages, had just Cahill in there then no one for too long.

Mason Mount has almost recovered. He'll play the next match, most probably.

On recent by form Maddison has been better than Mason Mount I think but Mason Mounthas played at a higher level than Maddison ever has.

I think Mason Mount fills such a unique role that it's difficult to say. Mason Mount at his best is exceptional, but his recent form (toward the end of last season) hasn't been fantastic though. I hope he'll come in to this season at his best.

can we not do another generation of "all these players are good so they all must play at once despite not fitting the formation"

First we were over reliant on Hazard. Now we are over reliant on Mount.

Poor guy, oh well I'm sure Mason Mount's wage package will help him get over it.

It’s really confusing me that Chelsea our now likeable this season with bringing all these kids through. The sooner the transfer ban finishes the better!!
