The Football Association will hold strategic talks with the England and Wales Cricket Board to tap into the secrets of their World Cup success.
English football chiefs are planning to sit down with their cricket counterparts for discussions designed to help Gareth Southgate's team emulate the captivating tournament triumph that culminated in historic scenes at Lord's on Sunday.
The logistical set-up for next year's European Championship means that the competition will effectively be a home tournament for Southgate's men.
England won the Cricket World Cup on Sunday in the best one-day international of all time
Although matches will be played across the continent, England, who will be based at St George's Park throughout the tournament, will play their group games at Wembley with the semi-finals and final there too.
And as well as picking the brains of ECB chiefs for insights into how they managed to win England's first 50-over World Cup, the FA are keen to understand the dynamics of playing a successful tournament campaign on home soil.
England boss Southgate has been a big believer in incorporating methods from other sports and
has done it several times during his reign in his quest to develop a winning mentality within his squad. Eddie Jones, England's rugby head coach, gave a speech to Southgate's players in 2017.
The football coach, who is enrolled on UK Sport's elite coaching course, has also incorporated influences from American football and athletics as he looks to extract the very best from his players. And Southgate is almost certain to hold his own discussions with the England cricket side's technical team to discover more about their approach and the details behind how they conquered the world.
Southgate already has a long-standing relationship with the ECB — he gave a three-hour talk to Eoin Morgan's side in May.
The England manager will start his holiday this week ahead of returning for the new season.
England's next fixtures are against Bulgaria and Kosovo at the start of September — both qualifiers for the Euro 2020 tournament.
