The 16-year-old forward is fast gaining a name for himself at Fluminense. Arsenal and Tottenham have both been monitoring the teenager's development.
Miguel Silveira has caught the eye not just in Brazil, but also further afield. The 16-year-old forward is making a name for himself at Fluminense and Premier Leagues - Arsenal and Tottenham in particular, have shown a great interest. The Gunners have moved fast, sending scouts over to Brazil to watch the player in action and arranging a meeting with the teenager and his family.
Real Madrid's strategy of signing promising young South American players is being copied by European clubs. It has provoked a race to discover the best player of every generation: Vinicius was born in 2000, Rodrygo in 2001 and Reinier in 2002. Now, Miguel Silveira is pushing hard to be the revelation of 2003. Real Madrid scout Juni Calafat is certain to know all about him already…
Silveira, who has been likened to Philippe Coutinho for his physique and playing style, started to show signs of promise at Vasco da Gama, and signed his first professional contract with Fluminense in June last year. The contract was for three years, the maximum permitted by the Brazilian Football Confederation for a player of his age, and his buy-out is believed to be around 35 million euros.
A regular with Brazil at youth level
Silveira made his first team debut for Fluminense against Cruzeiro in the Copa do Brasil in June last year, and played a part in the team's second goal. The following month, he became the youngest player to play in the Brasileirão, featuring in the 1-1 against Ceará.
In 2019, he made four first team appearances and so far this year, he's made seven.
