The teenager has been rewarded for his recent first team involvement
Tottenham Hotspur have handed a new deal to young goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman who has been involved with the first team in recent weeks.
The 19-year-old, who is born and bred in Tottenham and is a life-long Spurs fan, has been training with Mauricio Pochettino's side for the last couple of seasons and taken to matches in case of injury or illness, but with recent injuries to Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm the teenager has taken the next step up.
Whiteman found himself on the Tottenham Hotspur bench as back-up to Paulo Gazzaniga for the Premier League match at Brighton and then for the next two matches in the Carabao Cup against Watford and the league game at Huddersfield.
The young goalkeeper has been rewarded with a fresh two-year deal with the club and he will be hoping that with Michel Vorm's deal ending next summer he can push on to either step up into that third place spot or head out on loan to make his senior debut.
Whiteman, whose own previous deal was set to expire next summer, has featured on the bench before for Spurs, in last season's Premier League match against Crystal Palace, when Gazzaniga played as Lloris and Vorm were out.
Before that he was named on the bench for the EFL Cup tie against Gillingham in 2016 and has been named in the squads for both of Tottenham's past two US summer tours.
Whiteman has played at various age levels for England and played at the U17 World Cup in 2015.

Quite the prospect. Think he's one of the better youngsters in our academy at the moment.

How good is he exactly? Likely to be promoted if Vorm goes? Or another Luke Mcgee
