Chelsea's summer is starting to heat up nicely heading into a crucial month for the club. Thomas Tuchel will be hoping he can rebuild his squad in the transfer window, while also preparing his side for the upcoming season.
Pre-season is currently being held in America, with their first game coming against Club America on Sunday. One new name is guaranteed to be involved with the squad and that is Raheem Sterling.
The forward made a £45million move from Manchester City, helping Tuchel bolster his forward options. On the move, the England international told the official Chelsea website: “First and foremost, it's a pleasure to be here.
“I've obviously achieved a lot in my career so far, but there is still so much more to achieve and I'm really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt, under Thomas's management. London is my home and where it all started for me, and it's amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, and week out at Stamford Bridge. I'm really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon.
“I do want to take the opportunity to thank Todd, Behdad, the ownership group, Thomas, and all involved in the process of getting me here. I can't wait to get going now and continue to do my talking on the pitch.”
Sterling may not be the only name though, as a whole plethora of changes are expected this summer. However, what will come with that is also a settling-in period, where the new members will have to gel with established players.
This was seen first-hand in a video that shows the new signing speaking with Malang Sarr in an awkward first encounter. The pair get chatting before Sterling asks: “Are you actually a centre-half or a left-back?”
Sarr replies: “Yeah, I'm a centre-back.” The 23-year-old has been able to play either role, but has played 104 times centrally compared to 43 times on the left in all competitive appearances throughout his career so far.
That versatility could prove useful for the upcoming season, especially if Sarr struggles to find game time in his usual central position.

No one knows Malang Sarr's actual position.Even he doesn't know his position himself. He is very Versatile and can play anywhere on the pitch even as a goal keeper. So I don't blame Sterling 😂😂

How is it awkward to ask a player who has played in two positions, which of the two he prefers? Clearly Sterling knows Sarr is able to play both positions.
