Manchester City's Phil Foden created history on Tuesday night by becoming the youngest English player to score in the Champions League.
His former college, St Bede's in Manchester, were so proud of their alumnus that they took to Twitter to send a big congratulations.
The 18-year-old, who netted during City's 7-0 demolition of Schalke, responded in jest – claiming all those hours on the football pitch rather than doing his homework paid dividends.
Raheem Sterling, who also continued his fine run of form by netting in the Etihad clash, also weighed in with a tongue-in-cheek comment of his own.
'U still have school tomorrow go to bed now kid,' the winger replied to Foden's tweet, to which the midfielder replied with a gif of a child falling asleep.
And although the comments were made in jest, there is no joking around when it comes to Foden's progress at City this season.
Earlier in the campaign there were doubters who believed he had to move else to seek more first-team action, following in the footsteps of trailblazer Jadon Sancho, who has set the Bundesliga alight since his move to Borussia Dortmund.
But in 23 appearances in all competitions this season, Foden has scored six and assisted a further two, making steady progress up the ladder.
Should he continue on this upward trajectory, there is no doubting that Pep Guardiola will soon find a regular starting spot for him in his star-studded first team.

It's quite obvious he doesn't want to follow in Sancho's footsteps and why would he? Sancho is 1 example, there are many who thought the same like Matondo, didn't see him last night and Diaz, he wasn't even on the bench when Real got Knocked out of the champions league. City have many young players on loan or on the cusp of 1st team and doing very well but most don't have the same affinity with Man City as Foden does, he genuinely loves the club and is one of the best young players in the Prem by a mile. If it had been Mason Greenwood scoring in the CL, there would be a riot about it and people calling for his immediate call up for England.
