On Wednesday at Camp Nou, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho are set to take on the club at which they made their names.
As they look to gain a place in the final of the Champions League with Barcelona, their former side Liverpool stand in their path.
The Reds proved crucial in the development of the pair who, despite already holding solid reputations when they arrived on Merseyside, took the next step up at the English club.
Luis Suarez was a star at Ajax which prompted Liverpool to sign him in January 2011 as a replacement for Fernando Torres who joined Chelsea in the same window.
He quickly became a fans' favourite for his tenacious attitude and all-round quality in attack, which saw him win the European Golden Shoe award in 2013/2014, along with Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the same number that season.
It was not long before Europe's biggest clubs began to fight for his signature, which Barcelona eventually won with an 82-million-euro signing in the summer of 2014.
Since then, he has not stopped winning trophies with the Blaugrana but he is still remembered fondly by the Liverpool fans for what he provided in his three years and a half at the club.
It was a similar story for Coutinho who became a first-team regular at Liverpool after a rocky period with Inter.
After five and a half years on Merseyside, Barcelona shelled out a club record 160 million euros to acquire his services.
Things have not gone so swimmingly for Coutinho so far, who has come under fire for a string of average performances which has even brought into question his long-term credentials for the Catalan club.
Also unlike Suarez, Coutinho's departure was not accepted as by the Liverpool faithful, who felt he jumped ship at a time when they were in the ascendency.
Either way, both positive and negative sentiments about the pair will temporarily be suspended in the 180 or so minutes that are set to transpire between Liverpool and Barcelona for a place in Europe's top competition.

I just hope they are not ‘booed’ by our home crowd! Whatever Coutinho did for his move to Barcelona did leave a sour taste but yet that is forgotten and forgiven and our fans remembers that he has given us his wonderful 5 years and we have absolutely loved it!!! Its an important tie for both the teams, ofcrz i would want Liverpool to win the tie but whatever said and done whoever plays brilliantly and are tactically strong will win the tie! If Liverpool are tactically strong and can take a positive result from Camp Nou, even if it is 0-0 or 1-1, they will have a massive advantage going into Anfield!
