Suarez gives signed Barcelona shirt to former colleague Carragher

Even former footballers who once played with Luis Suarez cannot resist getting some memorabilia from the Barcelona striker, it seems.

Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, and met his former Reds team mate outside the away dressing room.

Suarez, starring up front for Barcelona against Chelsea in their Champions League clash, gave Carragher his signed shirt after the game, which ended 1-1.

Suarez and Carragher seem to be on unusually formal terms, with the Uruguayan signing the jersey 'To James' - the rarely used full first name of the Anfield hero.

Carragher was able to have a laugh about this when he posted a picture of Suarez holding the shirt to Instagram, saying: 'Match shirt signed for James!', with a thumbs up emoji.

He and Suarez played together for Liverpool between 2011 and 2013 - until the defender's retirement - winning the League Cup.

Suarez was smiling as he posed with the shirt - looking happier than he had all night previously on what was a personally frustrating evening.

He has failed to score in the last 881 minutes of play in the Champions League, his longest drought in the competition.

Suarez was left particularly angry when a penalty appeal was turned down in the second half and was booked for his protests - before Lionel Messi scored the equaliser.
