Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham asking price revealed as giants swoop

Sunderland will demand a total fee of up to £12million for Jobe Bellingham amid interest from Borussia Dortmund, sources have told Football Insider.

The Black Cats value their 18-year-old prize asset at around £8m plus add-ons.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Borussia Dortmund’s interest, with sources saying Sunderland need to make a “major” sale this summer to balance the book.

Bellingham, who is under contract at the Stadium of Light until 2027, has made impressive strides during his year at the club.

Since joining the Black Cats from Birmingham City last summer, Bellingham has scored seven goals in 45 Championship appearances and played virtually all of the team’s minutes.

Aged just 18, the midfielder has already nailed down a role in the first team and proved he can perform to a high level consistently.

Sunderland fell to a 16th-placed finish despite early hopes of making the play-offs after a turbulent season.

The club’s latest accounts saw a £9million operating loss in 2022-23, meaning they will need to make player sales to avoid further financial concerns.

Bellingham will be one name on the list of possible sales, with sources telling Football Insider that Jack Clarke could also make a move this summer.

With Bellingham arriving for just £1.5million in 2023, his stock has risen hugely and the asking price of £12million could see them capitalise.

Dortmund are known to develop young talent and already have connections to the Bellingham family after Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham thrived in the Bundesliga.

In other news, Ange Postecoglou could now look for a way out of Tottenham.
