'Supercomputer' predicts final EPL standings - and it’s great news for Arsenal

Arsenal will be back in the Champions League in 2019/2020, according to the predictions of a supercomputer which has simulated every remaining game in the season.

The Gunners - who just a couple of weeks ago were 10 points behind north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur - moved back into the top four with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

And according to the results of a simulation run by FiveThirtEight , their two-season absence from European football's elite club competition will soon be coming to an end.

Elsewhere, Spurs have been backed to keep their place in the top four and secure Champions League football for next season despite a run of four games without a win which has seen their 10-point lead over Arsenal cut to just one.

Chelsea are predicted to finish fifth meaning they would need to win the Europa League in order to return to Europe's top table next season and the Red Devils are set to finish sixth.

At the bottom of the table, Huddersfield Town, Fulham and Cardiff City are the three teams being backed for the drop as the computer sees no improvement for the three currently sat in the relegation zone.
