TA: Poor attack and declining reputation, Frank's future at Spurs looks dull

Recently, The Athletic published a special article analyzing the comprehensive crisis exposed by Tottenham Hotspur after their heavy away defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Currently, there are many teams that can be clearly excluded from the title race, so singling out 11th-placed Tottenham Hotspur may seem a bit harsh (and also rather obvious), but to be honest, their performance in the game against Nottingham Forest was nothing short of a disaster.

Goalkeeper Vicario once again played the role of "Santa Claus": in the 28th minute, he made a poor pass to Archie Gray, which ultimately led to Hudson-Odoi easily slotting into an empty net. But Tottenham showed a "generous" attitude from the very start of the game. Forest, ranked 17th before the game, only needed to "unwrap" this gift.

Despite Tottenham fielding a front line consisting of Kudus, Simons, Muani, and Richarlison - all four being senior international players - the team managed only 1 on - target shot throughout the game. Their expected goals were a mere 0.37, and their performance was extremely poor. This is already the third time this season that they have produced such dismal statistics, with the most memorable (if that's the right word) being the heavy defeats against Arsenal and Chelsea.

Perhaps someone might say, "What's the big deal? They only finished 17th last season."

It's really hard to refute this. They are a typical example of "Spursy performance" (referring to falling short at critical moments and being inconsistent).

But this season was supposed to be different. The club's owners, the Lewis family, sacked long-serving executive chairman Daniel Levy in September because they wanted the team to "win more often." Prior to that, they had already fired Ange Postecoglou, who finally won a trophy for the team, and appointed Thomas Frank as the new head coach. We thought the club's philosophy would shift from "ideological" to "pragmatic."

Everyone thinks Frank is a good person, but his coaching career at Tottenham has been difficult. The team has only won one game in the past seven games, and currently has 22 points in the Premier League after 16 rounds, the lowest record since 2008.

After the game, Frank said he had been struggling to control his emotions, stating that it was not easy to stay calm when a "storm" raged inside him.

For the Danish coach who took charge of the top English football team for the first time, he is now facing a serious crisis of being fired, and the position is already in jeopardy. With the continuous decline of the team's performance, the dissatisfaction of fans is also increasing, and the booing in the home stands is becoming more and more frequent.

It seems that there is a lack of leadership players in the Tottenham team who can turn the tide. In such a team with insufficient cohesion and lack of fighting spirit, Frank may have very little support, and his coaching career at Tottenham may have entered the countdown stage.
