TRANSFER GOSSIP COLUMN: Man United will NOT sell Raphael Varane in January

The Premier League clubs' decision to vote against a temporary ban on incoming loan deals between clubs with the same owners could have a major impact on the January transfer window.

The motion fell short of the 14 top-flight members support needed to implement the change, missing out after a 12-8 ballot.

It means that Newcastle could sign players from clubs also owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which has an 80 percent stake in the Magpies.

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Ruben Neves, who joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in the summer, as Eddie Howe looks to address his injury crisis.

Elsewhere, Raphael Varane's future at Manchester United remains in doubt and Romelu Lukaku could make his loan switch to Roma permanent.

Juventus are hoping to tie Dusan Vlahovic down to a long-term contract amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester United. The Serbian joined the Old Lady in January 2022 for £70m and has scored 27 goals in 73 appearances in all competitions since. (90min)

Chelsea and Manchester United's pursuit of Ronny Bardghji may get more difficult as the teenager has signed with CAA Base, the same agency which looks after a host of Tottenham stars including James Maddison, Richarlison and Heung-min Son. Bardghji scored the winner as Copenhagen beat United 4-3 in the Champions League two weeks ago.
