TRANSFER GOSSIP: Tottenham unlikely to sign Nice defender Todibo in January

Christmas is just three days away and football clubs are looking at how they can treat themselves in the upcoming January transfer window.

As injuries build up and a packed fixture list begins to take its toll, a number of Premier League sides are assessing whether their ranks have the necessary depth to challenge in the second half of the season.

Manchester United could be busy - in terms of outgoings - while the future of Ivan Toney is likely to be one of the biggest talking points, after a Brentford chief admitted this week that the Arsenal target could move 'very shortly'.

Other clubs such as Newcastle - who have been decimated by injuries - might opt to fill holes in their squad, while those sides towards the bottom of the league will be desperate to strengthen to boost their hopes of survival.

Tottenham are unlikely to sign Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo this January. The French defender had been linked with Ange Postecoglou's side as they aim to battle with several suspensions and injuries, with centre back a priority position. However, it is thought to be doubtful Todibo will be an addition. (The Athletic)

Chelsea could sell Conor Gallagher in an attempt to balance the books and comply with FFP regulations despite the midfielder being a regular starter. The Blues need cash to fund their Ivan Toney pursuit and £50m may be enough to prize away the 23-year-old. (ESPN)

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio. The 22-year-old - who has a £52m release clause - is interesting the Gunners after a spate of defensive injuries. (The Sun)

Eddie Nketiah is expected to stay at Arsenal this January despite links with a move for Toney. Nketiah has attracted interest from clubs at home and in Germany, but Mikel Arteta's side would only let him depart for a huge bid (Rudy Galetti).

Tottenham have received a boost in their pursuit of Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo after he told the Cottagers he wants to leave at the end of the campaign as a free agent. Marco Silva's side have offered the 26-year-old a new deal, but he looks set to exit in the summer. (The Sun)
