Norwegian attracting interest from number of Premier League rivals and would cost about £40m.
Leeds United have made the first bid for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
Securing the signing of Strand Larsen, 25, who scored 14 league goals last season after initially signing on loan from Celta Vigo, would be a coup for Leeds, who are keen to add firepower to their forward line.
While there is no agreement for the Norway international, opening dialogue between the clubs opens the door for a deal in the final week of the January transfer window. It is understood they are not wildly apart in valuations.
Wolves have been relaxed with the situation as they are happy with him staying, they are on a five-match unbeaten run and are happy with dressing-room harmony, despite relegation appearing inevitable.
Strand Larsen is valued at about £40m and competition for his signature means he could go for more.
As revealed by Telegraph Sport last month, Crystal Palace were firmly in the race for Strand Larsen, who has seven goals in all competitions this season. With France striker Jean-Philippe Mateta looking to leave Selhurst Park, they would be in the market for a No 9 in the event of his departure.
Nottingham Forest and West Ham are among the other clubs interested in the Norwegian. West Ham have since signed two forwards and are retaining Callum Wilson after his winner against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Forest are on the brink of signing Lorenzo Lucca from Napoli.
Aston Villa are also in the market for a No 9 but have been focused on Tammy Abraham from Roma as a priority.
Last summer, Wolves rejected bids of £50m and £55m for Strand Larsen from Newcastle United, and the player then signed a new deal at Molineux.
According to the latest news from Sky, Wolves have rejected an initial bid from Leeds for Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The value of it is currently unconfirmed but Wolves are believed to value him at £40m.
Wolves are quite content for him to stay. But he has interest from a number of clubs this month.
Sky Sports News has already reported that Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have also made enquiries.
Strand Larsen wants to stay in the Premier League if he leaves Wolves.
