Erik ten Hag was furious that Jules Kounde was not sent off for bringing down Marcus Rashford on the edge of the Barcelona box.
Ten Hag's Manchester United side put on an impressive display at the Nou Camp, drawing 2-2 with European heavyweights Barcelona.
United, who came from a goal down to lead 2-1 in a matter of minutes, were disappointed not to walk away with a win after former Leeds forward Raphinha equalised late on.
However, before that, Ten Hag was convinced that Barcelona's Kounde - who also scored an own goal - should have seen red for being the last man as Rashford stormed through on goal.
Just after the hour mark, Bruno Fernandes set Rashford away with a sublime ball over the top. The in-form United star drove towards the box, beating Kounde before being taken out.
The referee was not convinced and VAR did not intervene because replays showed the foul was outside of the box.
However, speaking after the game, an incensed Ten Hag - who picked up a yellow card for his protests - said: 'We turned [the game] around when we were down and the referee had a big influence on the game. It was a clear foul on Rashy. You can discuss if it's in or outside the box.
'Then it's a red card because he was one on one with the keeper, so it's a big influence not only on this game but in this round. The referee can make this mistake.'
The United boss went on to praise Rashford's fine form but insisted 'it was a really good team performance'.
Barcelona already go to Old Trafford without Gavi who picked up a suspension after being given a yellow card, while fellow youngster Pedri was forced off in the first-half with an injury.
Had Kounde been sent off, United would have been handed another major boost ahead of the sides meeting next Thursday.
Rashford, who continued his fine form by racking up his 16th goal in 14 games with a wonderful finish from a tight angle, also thought it was a clear foul.
'It's a massive moment in the game and to be honest I've not watched it back,' he said. But in the moment, I don't understand why the linesman thinks I'm going down there.
'I've touched it, passed him and my foot's in front of the ball and he hits my leg and it's clear contact. Like I said, it's not a penalty but it's 100 per cent a foul for me.'

Don't forget it's Barcelona you're playing in an European game. If they can control the whole Spanish referees association with"payments" what do expect.

That's Why Ten Hag Is The One That Will Lead United Back To The Right Track...
Unlike Solskjaer And Rangnick.., Ten Hag Will Fight And Defend His Lads At All Times, When They Need Their Boss To Stand By Them.
