ERIK TEN HAG could be set for a sensational return to Ajax as he is among their preferred candidates for the job, according to reports.
The Manchester United boss, 54, is coming under increasing pressure at Old Trafford after a dismal second season at the helm.
His side sit sixth in the Premier League table, while they were also eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League.
They are into the final of the FA Cup where they will play Manchester City for a second successive season.
However, they spurned a three-goal lead to Championship outfit Coventry in the semi-final, before sparing further blushes by winning on penalties.
And just one win in six Premier League games has added further uncertainty surrounding Ten Hag's future at the club.
But according to The Mail, Man Utd sacking Ten Hag may only lead to his immediate return to Ajax.
The Dutchman enjoyed a superb four-and-a-half-year spell with the Eredivisie giants between 2017 and 2022.
He won three league titles, two Dutch Cups, and led them to the Champions League semi-finals before they were beaten on away goals by Tottenham in a remarkable tie.
But Ajax are aware Ten Hag would be reluctant to walk away from Man Utd, so they are reliant on him being sacked.
Ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter and Nice head coach Francesco Farioli are among the other candidates being considered.
John van 't Schip has been placed in interim charge of Ajax until the end of the season - their fifth head coach since Ten Hag's departure less than two years ago.
They missed out on Champions League qualification last season after finishing third in the Eredivisie.
But the 2023/24 campaign has been even worse with the club down in fifth, 35 points adrift of league leaders PSV.

i think first is the players that don really work hard n fight for the team nowadays.. they only play whenever they wan.. example only perform better against big teams n play leisure with they mind set so called weaker team... if the players don like the manager then they wil perform badly cos they know management n fans no patient attitude also wil cause the team keep on changing the manager... look at how every team that change new manager perform much better with the same squad n after some time back to bad performance again.. is the same old routine actually
You sabi the game. They will play well for the next manager, regardless of his tactical prowess in his first season, just to pass a message about their previous coach to their management and fans, and then fall back to default mode in the season that follows

why in this new era of football everytime the team performed badly or we get bad result ,is the manager fault?? why cant we blame on players, management or the big boss fault?? the media is doing a bad job there that pressure the big boss, the fans or even the world that the team perform badly then we need to change new manager... why why why???
it's because most of man u legends turned to talk shows and big number of them are from england if manager is from other parts they will blame him but if he is from england they will blame players example Lampad on chelsea they used to blame players that's why da all team was sold

WELL I THINK IT'S GOOD FOR HIM TO RETURN BACK TO AJAX. HE IS A GOOD COACH JUST THAT THE TEAM HE CHOSE TO JOIN, MAN U IS TOO BIG FOR HIM. EPL IS NOT FOR BABY COACHES.
The Team he chose to join is crap. Compare our players man for man with City or Arsenal how many of our players would you keep in the team.

People forget that half the team are injured, we’ve had 60 injuries this season and our back up team isn’t good enough to start for mid table clubs. Not to mention that we have no service to our striker due to wingers and players shooting from outside the box. ETH has done well for the shit nature of the players, he can only do so much…
