May 22 is a special anniversary for Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid.
It was on that night in 2010, when Mourinho won his most recent Champions League with Inter against Bayern Munich, that he agreed his move to Madrid over dinner with Florentino Perez.
The Portuguese left the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu that night separated from his team, who set off on their club coach, while Mourinho was escorted away by one of Florentino's trusted men.
At the table that night, Mourinho's first team started to be drawn up, prompting the arrivals of Angel Di Maria, Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil and Ricardo Carvalho, while Steven Gerrard, Maicon and Aleksandar Kolarov were also names the coach suggested.
The Nerazzurri returned to Milan to celebrate without Mourinho, as he chose to start preparing for the following season.
He had a 16 million euro release clause in place, so Florentino took off for Milan a few days later to negotiate a deal to buyout his contract for eight million euros.
Mourinho had already known that he was going to be moving to Madrid though, even the day before that Champions League final.
He prepared for the game at Valdebebas and even met a number of Real Madrid's younger players, notably Alvaro Morata.
At that dinner on May 22, 2010, Real Madrid's future changed.
After six years of falling out of the Champions League prematurely, Los Blancos started to compete with Barcelona and Europe's elite.
The Catalans had won a sextuple under Pep Guardiola, but the Portuguese managed to beat them to the LaLiga Santander title.
Mourinho laid the foundations for everything that came after him.

100 points + 122 goals , no one can reached that
Sure the goals are impressive but next season Barcelona also won with 100 points, 15 points above 2nd place Mourinhos Madrid. Mourinho was expected to dominate after Pep left yet he failed and got sacked after a trophyless 2013.

"Mourinho laid the foundations for everything that came after him." People easily forget that Madrid kept exiting the CL at knockouts for 6 years. Mou brought back the winning mentality, and the never say die attitude, Mou created the spine of the dominant Madrid team that later swept Europe. Before he left, he had mastered Barcelona's game so well that Madrid could beat them with a team full of their second string players. Whatever Madrid achieved later on, Mou started it. If Mou hadn't come by, it's hard to see anything but Barca adding insult upon injury.
