Former Netherlands international Rafael van der Vaart criticised Manchester United attacker Antony for keeping hold of the ball for too long during the defeat against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Brazilian winger scored a consolation goal for the Reds in the second period with a stunning strike, but Erik ten Hag's side were unable to mount a comeback and lost 6-3 at the Etihad.
Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both grabbed hat-tricks for the home side, with United substitute Anthony Martial returning from injury to score a brace late on in the clash.
Antony, who has scored in both of his two Premier League appearances, came under fire from Arsene Wenger after the derby defeat, with the former Arsenal boss suggesting that the 22-year-old had not done enough defensively to help the Reds and that he left right-back Diogo Dalot exposed.
Speaking on beIN Sports, Wenger said: "From the first minute on Diogo Dalot got a yellow card and Sancho and Antony did not contribute defensively.
"They were, in the whole half, flooded on the flanks and they were always in trouble. After that, when they had the ball, I felt they were obsessed by respecting too much the game plan.
"They wanted always to go too quickly forward and lost so many balls and didn’t have enough possession. They didn’t play for possession, they wanted just to get on the counter-attack."
Former Tottenham midfielder Van der Vaart was also unimpressed with the former Ajax man - claiming that Antony didn't release the ball quick enough against Pep Guardiola's men.
"Have you seen Antony play today? He scored a world-class goal," he said during a Sunday evening football show on Dutch TV station NOS.
"But with every pass he received he kept holding the ball underneath his feet while being 4-0 down. That would annoy the hell out of me!"
United face off against Omonia on Thursday night, with the Reds hoping to make it three wins from three matches in Europe so far this term.

Vanderfart he's got to hold the ball, He's looking to see who's in the best position to pass to.If only some of these present day football players would hold the ball and look before they pass or take those wild shots.Leave the youth alone let him play his game.He couldn't stop City from scoring six goals, plus he scored a world class goal. You washed up players love to criticize young promising players, mainly those that doesn't come from your country.Go take a seat in your old rocking chair Vanderfart.
