Jurgen Klopp might not be active in the January transfer market, but the Liverpool boss has been sure to make a couple of key signings this week.
The Reds have ensured that both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson commit their long-term futures to the club, handing the two full-backs five-year deals respectively.
It's just reward for the development of two key players in Klopp's squad, and the Reds boss will be delighted to see the club move quickly and decisively in tying down their star players. As he stated in his press conference ahead of Crystal Palace on Friday, no big player is going to be departing anytime soon.
Robertson and Alexander-Arnold both followed Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Joe Gomez in signing new deals with the club, and Liverpool have also been keen to tie down young players such as Harry Wilson to long-term deals before sanctioning loans.
It's a policy that has ensured a content and settled squad that is challenging at the top end of the Premier League and is just as important as the excellent recruitment the club has carried out in recent years.
So who is next in line to be handed a new deal at Anfield?
There's one name that, when looking through the list of expiry dates on Liverpool deals, jumps out.
Gini Wijnaldum.
The Dutchman has established himself as a key player under Jurgen Klopp since arriving from Newcastle in 2016.
Indeed, Wijnaldum played 50 matches for the Reds last season, only Firmino and Salah appeared more times, underlining his importance to Klopp.
But he still had plenty of convincing to do for many fans.
When Fabinho and Naby Keita arrived at Anfield in the summer, Wijnaldum was often thought to be the player who could be sacrificed by Klopp. Not so. Instead, the Dutchman shone in a deeper position as Fabinho adjusted to life in England and Keita played further forward.
Wijnaldum has missed just one Premier League game this season and has also played in all six of Liverpool's Champions League group games.
Often overlooked by fans and pundits, the 27-year-old is valued highly by Klopp and with his current contract set to expire in 2021, Klopp will be keen to ensure he's not overlooked when it comes to handing out new deals.
The Dutchman is committed to the Reds, saying only recently how he planned to stay at Anfield for "many more seasons" and winning trophies with the club.
He told PFA Magazine: "I hope to stay here for a long time and help to make the history of this club even bigger. We’ve qualified for the Champions League two seasons in a row and reached a major final but we want more.
"Everyone talks about winning something and we have to make sure we take that next step. I hope we can do it. We have the confidence that we can do it. You want to be able to look back and feel you were part of Liverpool’s great history – win something here and they will always remember you.
"I want to be remembered as a Liverpool player who was part of something special."
Hopefully he can show that commitment soon by putting pen-to-paper on a new, long-term deal.
Nobody deserves it more.
