The coincidental Zidane-Pogba meeting that followed many non-coincidental calls

Paul Pogba has done little to hide the fact that he'd like a move to Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane has made no secret of his desire to sign his compatriot.

The two Frenchmen were in contact in both spring and summer of this year and they both intend to work together in a sporting sense.

The pair met in Dubai during the international break, but Zidane insisted they came across each other simply by chance.

The meeting took place in clear daylight on Tuesday and the two spoke for around 10 minutes by the sand dunes.

There's a need to believe Zidane that this meeting was a coincidence, although previous discussions were not.

The problem is that the Real Madrid board don't believe in the signing.

Pogba is more of a financial risk than the likes of Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek in terms of value for money.

Manchester United's current state means that plenty of players are linked with moves away from Old Trafford as well as a change in coach.

Pogba's contract with the Red Devils runs until June 2021 and right now it doesn't look like he's going to renew it any time soon.
