The curse of Barcelona's attack

Memphis Depay has become the latest forward from an injury-plagued Barcelona to pick up a knock following the Blaugrana's 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in Germany on Wednesday.

Five of the seven forwards featuring in the squad are still - or have been - sidelined due to injuries, with Luuk de Jong and Yusuf Demir being the only two players to have avoided knocks, as Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, Sergio Aguero and Martin Braithwaite have all been out at various points this season.

Barcelona are playing away at Osasuna on Sunday and Xavi Hernandez has none of Memphis, Fati, Braithwaite or Aguero at his disposal.

Ousmane Dembele is expected to start on the right wing, but the new Barcelona coach will be asked to find the player who will fill in the Dutch forward's void.

Memphis suffered a thigh injury and although the Catalan side have not revealed the date of his potential return to action, he is expected to miss the game with Osasuna.

Fati doubtful

All indications were that Fati would return to action in Munich, but Barcelona's medical staff were not willing to risk a setback as the 19-year-old forward has just recovered from a series of injuries and participated in just eight games this season across all competitions.

Meanwhile, there is no news regarding the recoveries of Braithwaite and Aguero, with the former having undergone knee surgery and the latter being sidelined since suffering arrhythmia a month ago.

Hence, Luuk de Jong is the only natural striker in the team who is fit, as Dembele is a more of a winger and Demir features either as playmaker or winger.
