Leeds edge past Fulham
Leeds United were in League Cup action on Tuesday evening.
The Whites would face off with Championship outfit Fulham in a 3rd round tie.
The game itself was pretty dull, with neither outfit able to find a winner inside 90 minutes.
As a result, the clash would go straight to penalties, with Leeds coming out on top after Rodrigo Muniz missed the deciding penalty for Fulham.
Bamford & Ayling latest
Before the game, Leeds would provide a rather concerning injury update.
The Peacocks confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that both Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling would miss the Fulham game due to injuries picked up in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United last Friday:
Bamford is of course one of Leeds’ standout stars and one of their only decent options at centre-forward.
Luke Ayling, meanwhile, has been Leeds’ main right-back for some time now and was forced to fill in at centre-back vs Newcastle due to the Yorkshire outfit’s centre-back woes, which have seen Marcos Llorente and Robin Koch sidelined with injury and Pascal Struijk suspended.
So, losing Ayling as well would of course be a big blow for their clash with West Ham this weekend. However, when quizzed on the pair post-Fulham, Marcelo Bielsa did not give much away.
When asked how Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling are, the Argentine stated:
“Bamford has an injury in his ankle and Ayling in his knee.”
Then, when asked if he is hopeful that neither injury is serious, Bielsa stated:
“It’s subject to the evolution that they have.”
