Marcos Llorente's trajectory at Atletico Madrid has been impressive, as Diego Simeone has managed to turn his from a questionable signing into one of Europe's best midfielders.
The Argentine coach experimented with Llorente's position at this point last season and then came the Champions League tie against Liverpool, which proved to be a turning point for the Real Madrid academy graduate.
A completely new footballer was born last March, as Simeone went on to try Llorente in almost all the midfield and attack positions.
Despite his versatility and his ability to play as a second striker, Llorente has shone this season as an inside right midfielder.
The 25-year-old's numbers stand out and have ranked him amongst the finest in his position across Europe.
Llorente has already participated in a total of 13 goals, having scored seven and assisted six, with only Joshua Kimmich (four goals and 11 assists) and Kevin De Bruyne (two goals and 13 assists) registering better figures.
Meanwhile, only Carlos Soler (seven goals and five assists) and Sergio Canales (eight goals and four assists) can boast numbers close to Llorente's in LaLiga Santander.
However, the Valencia midfielder has scored six of his seven goals from the penalty spot, and the Real Betis man has also netted three penalties.

I don’t understand why people talk as if penalties don’t count or it’s easy to score.

If scoring penalties was easy atlético would have a ucl
Bam. if I could remember, they lost their last UCL final by penalty shoot out and they lost miserably by missing the penalties. He wish Bruno was part of that team, like they'll have won it. He'll sacrificed himself to take all the 5 kicks[Crylaugh]

Rahim Sterling miss all his 3 penalties he took this season and that should be the evidence that scoring penalties is not just a simple task. You need be brave, confidence and focus to take it. Boy .!

You don't need to because they are goals, whether penalty or not. Do you know Ronaldo and Messi manage to get to those loads of goals. [Crylaugh][Crylaugh][Crylaugh]
