'The plan is to keep my place', says Bournemouth keeper Mark Travers

Bournemouth's teenage goalkeeper Mark Travers has told manager Eddie Howe he can save him a fortune by becoming the Cherries' No 1.

Howe is lining up a big-money move for Stoke's England keeper Jack Butland.

But after a man-of-the-match performance on his debut against Spurs last weekend Travers, 19, who will start against Crystal Palace on Sunday, said: 'The plan is to keep my place.

'I was only playing for the Under 21s a few weeks ago. All I want to do is keep playing games and see what happens.'

Travers' promotion and competition from Artur Boruc means that Asmir Begovic is set to quit this summer.

The 31-year-old former Chelsea keeper has become frustrated by a lack of first-team action.

Begovic would welcome the chance to leave and the asking price would be about £7.5million.
