The players competing for a place in Luis Enrique's Spain squad

Luis Enrique is set to announce Spain's squad for the upcoming games against Norway and Malta and there are several players who compete for a spot in the list.

The game will kick off on March 23 and 26 respectively and the former Barcelona tactician is expected to call up those who considers as being in their best form.

Goalkeepers: Sergio Asenjo and David Soria

Villarreal shotstopper Sergio Asenjo has already been called up in the past and although his team aren't going through their best moment, he has always impressed with his performances, despite several serious injuries.

On the other hand, David Soria's performances with Getafe have been impressive over the season and while the Madrid based team currently occupy a Champions League spot in the LaLiga Santander table, no goalkeeper, bar Jan Oblak, has conceded fewer goals than the 25-year-old.

Defenders: Hermoso, Navas' return or Reguilon's debut

With Sergio Ramos as the main pillar of Spain's backline, Luis Enrique has experimented various times concerning his captain's partner.

Real Sociedad's Diego Llorente, Espanyol's Mario Hermoso and Athletic Club's Yeray Alvarez are competing for a spot in the starting line-up. The former pair have already made their international debut, while this time the latter could join his teammate Inigo Martinez.

Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon and Villarreal's Alfonso Pedraza could also earn caps, while Jesus Navas could return to La Roja, following his impressive performances at Sevilla.

Midfielders: The return of Mata and Cazorla

Possible Juan Mata and Santi Cazorla comebacks should not be ruled out, while Dani Parejo, Pablo Sarabia, Sergio Canales or Ander Herrera could also make the 23-man squad.

Barcelona loanee at Eiber, Marc Cucurella, as well as Celta Vigo prodigy Brais Mendez may also be considered as alternatives for the midfield.

Forwards: Lots of firepower

Last season's LaLiga 1|2|3 top scorers, Espanyol's Borja Iglesias, Getafe's Jaime Mata and Rayo Vallecano's Raul de Tomas have managed to find the back of the net more than ten times this season in their Spanish top-flight debut.

All three of them have proved with their performances in the ongoing campaign that they deserve to receive a call-up from national team coach Luis Enrique.
