Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has shared a photo on social media in which the remarkable state of his little finger hasn't gone unnoticed.
The Frenchman's fifth finger on his right hand is badly twisted, bent double in the photo, while the others are straight.
But, this isn't anything new. In fact, it's been like that since 2019. In January of that year, away to Real Betis in the Estadio Benito Villamarin, Benzema fractured his finger and was advised to undergo surgery, but the player himself forewent this option in order to keep playing and avoid spending several weeks on the sidelines at a time when the team badly needed him.
It was the first post-Zinedine Zidane season and results, under both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari, had been below expectations. Three years down the line, Benzema still bears the mark of that commitment and is yet to go under the knife, with his newly rediscovered international duties giving him even less free time than before.
On the field, however, it seems that his injured hand, which he bandages up for games, has even improved his performances as he's been practically unstoppable ever since, leading the way for the post-Cristiano Ronaldo era.
It causes him no serious problems in his daily life either, so it seems he is happy to continue to put off surgery and no doubt Los Blancos fans will be delighted about that.

I have a friend with the exact same issue. the finger broke and he didn't really notice only occasional pain for a few weeks before healing that way. He's been living with it for years and has no issues. To have it fixed, doctors would have to break the finger again to set it correctly.
