Thiago Silva's transfer to Chelsea is 'almost done' after his final game for Paris Saint-Germain ended in defeat in the Champions League final, according to reports.
Kingsley Coman's second-half header in Lisbon saw Bayern Munich win their sixth European Cup and deprived the Brazilian defender and PSG their first Champions League title.
The centre-back gave an emotional farewell to the Ligue 1 champions after the defeat, following which The Athletic reported that he is now extremely close to joining Chelsea after eight years and seven Ligue 1 titles at PSG.
Blues boss Frank Lampard is looking to overhaul his defence this summer after his side conceded 79 goals across all competitions in 2019/20.
But reports suggest he is now closing in on a surprise move for Thiago Silva, who confirmed his desire to play the next World Cup.
'It was my last game in Paris. I am sad. I apologize to the fans,' Thiago Silva - who turns 36 next month - told French outlet RMC Sport.
'I thank all the fans for their love. I will return to Paris with another role in future but I have to change [clubs].
'I want to play 3-4 years again be part of Brazil team in the Qatar World Cup.'
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel also heaped praise on the Brazilian in his post-match press conference.
The German boss said it was a joy to have managed him and that he will forever remain 'his player'.
'Thiago Silva was my captain, it was a pleasure to have a player of his quality & personality,' Tuchel said.
'Whatever the decision, he will always be my player. He is in my heart & it has been incredible this journey with him.'

Too many ignorant comments.... Who cares if he's 35. He has experience and enough skills to play in the champions league finals. The man plays no different than a younger lad. whats the problem. Ibrahimovic is still playing well. Kaylor Navas is still a world class keeper. so why not add an experienced player to your defense line ??

There's something wrong with Chelsea I guess, how can you sell Willian a 32 year old player to buy 36 year old player. What kinda madness is this.
