Thierry Henry is set to star in a new TV series that will offer an insight into the world of football.

The Arsenal icon will work as an executive producer, along with his agent Darren Dein on a show called Day 1's, as well as starring as himself in the show.

The TV series, called Day 1's, will consist of 10 episodes and has be produced by Doug Ellin - the creator of Entourage - and Chris Case.

According to Deadline, the story will follow the trials and tribulations of a young footballing prodigy Dezmond King, as he learns how to cope with his growing stature within the game.

UK production company Marv - owned by Matthew Vaughn, the creator of the Kingsman movie franchise - will make the series.

Henry will be a key part in the process, and he has spoken about his excitement of working on project with people he has looked up to, in an industry he is not known in.

'Entourage was one of my favourite TV shows and when Doug invited me on set to film my brief cameo appearance in the movie, I never would have thought that I would be part of bringing a new TV show to life,' he admitted.

'I'm also incredibly excited that Matthew Vaughn has agreed to bring his vast expertise and knowledge to the series along with many more extremely talented individuals.

'Hopefully I can share some of my experiences as this topic is much closer to my heart.'
