Things you missed: Jorginho outpasses the WHOLE Newcastle team & NBA star visits St James'

Chelsea continued their 100 percent record this season  courtesy of DeAndre Yedlin's late own goal, as they beat Newcastle 2-1 at St James' Park.

Yedlin diverted MArcus Alonso's shot into his own net after Joselu had canceled out Eden Hazard's penalty.

Here, Sportsmail runs you through some of the things you might have missed from Sunday's action...

200 up for Chelsea's Mr Dependable

From  Jose Mourinho to Antonio Conte and now Maurizio Sarri, managers  come and go at Chelsea. One constant throughout this transitional period, however, has been utility man Cesar Azpilicueta.

A virtual ever-present since his arrival in the summer of 2012, the defender affectionately known as 'Dave' made his 200th appearance for the Blues in Sunday's game against Newcastle.

Whether on the right of a back three or at full-back, Azpilicueta has quickly forged a reputation for being one of the Premier League's finest defenders.

Jorginho outpasses the WHOLE Newcastle team

It has taken new signing Jorginho no time at all to hit the ground running at Chelsea following his switch from Napoli.

A keen exponent of 'Sarriball', the midfielder has been charged with dictating play from the base of midfield for his new club - and he set the tempo against Newcastle in the most emphatic of ways.

According to Opta, Jorginho completed 86 of his 92 first-half passes - 19 more than the Newcastle team combined.

No wonder Sarri and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola fought tooth and nail to bring the Italy international to England this summer.

NBA star gives Yedlin kiss of death

Anyone familiar with NBA star Larry Nance Jr's Twitter feed will know that the Cleveland Cavaliers player shares more than a passing interest in what his fellow Americans would call 'soccer'.

It was no real surprise, then, to see Nance Jr posing for a photo alongside United States international DeAndre Yedlin before kick-off at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon.

The countrymen swapped shirts and the basketball giant was given a tour of the club's facilities before taking in Newcastle's home game against Chelsea.

Nance Jr's presence, however, failed to inspire Yedlin, who diverted Marcos Alonso's late shot into his own net to hand Chelsea three points.

Rudiger gives Chelsea the lead...or does he?

Attentive social media users would have been surprised to see ITV Football's Twitter account credit Antonio Rudiger's wayward first-half shot  as Chelsea's opener at St James' Park.

'GOALLLL! Out of nowhere, Rudiger sends in a powerful drive,' they wrote to much hilarity and anger.

The tweet was promptly deleted, but not before disappointed Blues fans voiced their annoyance at the false alarm.

Rafa puts Lascelles in his place

As revealed by Sportsmail on Sunday, Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles was dropped for his side's game at Chelsea following a training ground bust-up over tactics.

Crossing manager Rafa Benitez, it seems, was not the wisest decision the ex-Nottingham Forest cenrte-back has ever made.

Asked about the incident before the game, Benitez remained typically bullish: 'We have enough centre-backs, that is it.'

On that evidence, it may well be a while before the Newcastle faithful see their captain take the field in a black and white jersey again.

Chelsea point the way forward

Chelsea's average positions for the first-half against Newcastle rather resembled an arrow pointing towards the hosts' goal.

A symbol of one-way traffic as Sarri's side poured forward in search of an opener, if nothing else.
