Thomas Tuchel is spotted at the Australian Open following Chelsea sacking

Thomas Tuchel's world tour has taken him to Melbourne after the former Chelsea boss was pictured at the Australian Open on Thursday night.

Tuchel, 49, was dismissed by new Blues owner Todd Boehly after a sluggish start to the 2022-23 season and, due to post-Brexit visa laws, he had to depart England in December as he was not placed on gardening leave.

The German has visited India and Salzburg while taking some time away from the game, and was seen at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne for Elena Rybakina's semi-final win over Victoria Azarenka at the Australian Open.

Tuchel is an avid tennis fan it has been reported that, during his time at Chelsea, he made defenders hold tennis balls in their hands at set pieces to stop them from pulling shirts in the box.

The former Paris Saint Germain boss is biding his time over his next foray into management, with reports last week claiming that he would be interested in replacing Antonio Conte at Tottenham.

With Conte's future at Spurs uncertain, it has been reported that Tuchel would put his affection for Chelsea to one side to takeover at the North London club.

Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 and remains a popular figure at Stamford Bridge, with Blues fans chanting his name during their recent defeat to Man City.

The German enjoyed living in London and was even linked with taking the England job after the World Cup, but the FA decided to keep their faith in Gareth Southgate.

It is understood Tuchel is also learning Spanish, which would indicate a potential move to a club in LaLiga - a league he is yet to manage in.

The 49-year-old has previously worked in the Bundesliga - notably for Borussia Dortmund - and Ligue 1 with PSG before his move to the Premier League.

After being sacked, an emotional Tuchel released a statement saying: 'This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write - and it is one I hoped I would not need to do for many years.

'I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end.

'This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally. Thank you so much to all the staff, the players and the supporters for making me feel very welcome from the start.'
