Chelsea hammer Crystal Palace

Chelsea got their 2021/22 Premier League campaign off to a winning start on Saturday.

The Blues played host to Patrick Viera’s Crystal Palace in a 3 PM kick-off.

And from the off at Stamford Bridge, it would be the hosts who controlled proceedings.

Marcos Alonso fired Chelsea into the lead shortly before the half-hour mark. Christian Pulisic then doubled the Blues’ lead shortly before the break.

Then, to kill the game off, Trevoh Chalobah netted a sensational striker on his Premier League debut.

When will Kante be back?

Chelsea would see off Crystal Palace without the services of N’Golo Kante, who was believed to have picked up an issue in the UEFA Super Cup earlier in the week:

Palace was a fairly easy test for Chelsea, but they do have a much tougher run of games coming up now vs Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester City.

So, Chelsea fans will no doubt be keen to see Kante return as soon as possible. And, speaking recently, Thomas Tuchel has provided a return timetable for the Frenchman.

Kante will, according to Tuchel, be back in the middle of the week and hopefully be ready for the Arsenal game on Sunday:

‘N’Golo felt discomfort in his ankle on Friday,’ said Tuchel. ‘He felt it in the warm-up to the Super Cup match against Villarreal and he already played a little bit in pain and overcame the pain in that game.

‘But on Friday he felt it again and we decided to take him out and not to take any risk now at the beginning of the season. I think N’Golo will be back in the middle of the week to hopefully be ready for Arsenal.’
