Tim Howard names Roy Keane the best player he ever played with ahead of Ronaldo

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard has hailed Roy Keane as the best player he played with - ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Howard spent four years at Old Trafford alongside Keane and won the FA Cup and League Cup during that time.

The American eventually left United for Everton in 2007 after losing his place to Edwin van der Sar but says he's never forgotten the lessons he learned from playing with his former captain.

'I played with so many great players and leaders in my career, but to me, none was better than Roy Keane during my time at Manchester.

'He was the toughest son of a b***h I ever met. Nothing short of brilliant,' he told ESPN.

'As a coach, he taught me about resilience. And never giving up on myself. I took so much of what I learned from being around him and used it over the rest of my career, trying to pass it along to the next generation.'
