The American youngster time with Celtic was cut short after deciding to join the US men's national team; he said goodbye the Celts fans through social media.
US striker, Timothy Weah has had a good run with Scottish team, Celtic FC, and this week he was chosen to be part of the 'team of the week,' however, Weah's decision to join the U20 USMNT over playing the Scottish Cup final, made his path with Celtic come to an end, as decided by coach, Neil Lennon.
The U20 World Cup is about to start, making players around the world to leave their current clubs to join their national teams to get ready for the tournament, but Tim Weah's decision to join his national team for the competition, have left him with a club, temporarily as his letter still belongs to PSG.
Due to this situation, the US international said goodbye to Celtic and his fans through his social networks. "The coach told me that it is in the best interest of the team that I collect my things and go home rather than be apart of the game on Sunday so 'ill be on my way," reads the player's post on Instagram.
The Scottish side wanted for Weah to miss the first game of the U20 World Cup so he can play the Cup final and consequently end the season with the Celts, but the American player refused to miss the United States meeting, and his consequences with the Scottish team have come to light.
Celtic informed that Tim Weah himself was the one who refused to return to Glasgow for the final game of the season, which was taken as lack of commitment to the team, ending in this decision.
Fans farewell
"To you the fans, I will never forget you for all the love, support and kindness you have shown me. I don't know as yet what the future holds but I wish to one day come back to this great club to be with you all."
