Real Madrid star Toni Kroos believes the reigning European champions could have pushed for more goals despite earning a 2-0 lead in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea.
The holders secured a two goal cushion at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio on target.
Benzema scored a close range finish in the first half, before Chelsea were reduced to 10-men when Ben Chilwell was sent off for pulling back Rodrygo when the Brazilian looked to race through on goal.
Despite Asensio doubling the hosts advantage from a quickly taken corner, Kroos suggested Real Madrid could have added further goals with Chelsea having played the final 30 minutes with a man less.
The 33-year-old midfielder told CBS Sports that the record 14-time winners now needed to finish the job next week at Stamford Bridge.
'Maybe we could have pushed a bit more,' Kroos said.
'Of course there is always the danger to run into a counter attack, so you always have to take care of this.
'At the end it is a good result.
'It was a good game but maybe one of two more goals were possible.
'Chelsea had one of two chances in the first half, so we take the result and hope to get it done next week.'
The victory gives Real Madrid a commanding advantage heading into the second leg of the tie on April 18.
The hosts survived a late scare when Antonio Rudiger was forced to produce a superb block to prevent Mason Mount from pulling a goal back for Chelsea.
Rudiger's intervention meant his former side have now failed to score for four games, which last happened 30 years ago in 1993.

you should have pushed more indeed, playing 10 men for more than 30mins, you wouldn't have survived that against chelsea.
