Who are Tottenham’s best FPL assets?

Tottenham did not have a great 2020/21 campaign. Jose Mourinho would be sacked in April and Ryan Mason was left in charge until the end of the season.

Mason was able to steer Spurs to 7th in the league, but Nuno Espirito Santo is now at the helm, and it will be interesting to see how the Portuguese fairs at a more high-profile club.

Of course, having a new manager does make it slightly harder to predict how a team will perform and who will be their best players.

But there are still a couple of options you may wish to consider for Fantasy Premier League. Here are our top three below.

Harry Kane, forward (12.5m)

The most obvious choice would, of course, be Harry Kane.

The forward had a sensational 2020/21 under Jose Mourinho, scoring 23 goals and providing 14 assists to win both the Golden Boot and Playmaker award in the Premier League.

And under Nuno, who previously got two top seasons out of Raul Jimenez at Wolves, Kane would likely hit at least close to similar numbers this year as well.

However, there are a couple of things to take into consideration when potentially selecting Kane.

Firstly, Kane has been heavily linked with Manchester City this summer and if that transfer saga drags out into August we may not see him playing for either side early on.

And also, it has been reported that Kane will miss Tottenham’s season opener anyway due to his exertion at Euro 2020.

Heung-min Son, midfielder (10.0m)

Outside of Kane, Heung-min Son is a great pick for Tottenham and would actually likely be their best option in the opening gameweeks whilst Kane’s future and fitness issues are sorted out.

Son scored 17 and assisted 11 last campaign, which was something of an overperformance due to how Jose Mourinho set up, largely forcing every single Spurs attack through Son and Kane.

But in his four previous campaigns Son would still hit double digits for goals and get close to or just above 10 assists in a season.

So, whilst you probably should not expect such a high return in 2021/22, Son is still a fairly reliable FPL choice.

Sergio Reguilon, defender (5.0m)

The Lilywhites have not had the best defence for several years now.

However, Nuno Santo’s teams are generally pretty solid at the back and if he can tighten up Spurs’ defence, Sergio Reguilon could be a very solid option.

Reguilon was awarded six assists in 27 PL games last time out and if he can keep out that form over 38 games, as well as benefiting from some extra clean sheets (if Nuno sorts Tottenham’s defence out) then he could be a real steal at 5.0m.
