Tottenham’s new sporting director

Tottenham experienced a very difficult starts the transfer window mainly because they’ve spent so much time appointing a new head coach after the sacking of Jose Mourinho last season.

However, it was new sporting director Fabio Paratici’s arrival that accelerated the process and despite being unable to join up with former Juve colleague Antonio Conte, Spurs eventually settled with ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Speaking about Nuno’s arrival, Paratici said the appointment was made due to the values of his falling in line with the club:

‘The brief for this appointment has always been clear, we wanted a Head Coach that can instil all the values that are important to this Football Club.

‘You only have to look at Nuno’s time at Wolves to see his ability to take a group of players and implement an adaptive style that brings success and allows players to develop and thrive. We are all looking forward to getting started in what we hope will be a successful time with the Club.’

Will the new men at the club be successes? From what has been said about Paratici recently one would imagine it is nailed on.

Paratici praised

Recently, Paratici has been analysed by a number of footballing pundits and former colleagues and he has emerged with a glowing reputation.

‘I would call him an incredible worker,” said Javier Ribalta, who is the current managing director of sport at Parma. He worked with Paratici at Juventus from 2012 to 2017 in scouting.

‘I don’t even know when he can find time to sleep. He works 24 hours a day, and that’s not a saying. Usually, Paratici’s calls are after midnight, with the energy of someone calling you at noon!’

Considering Spurs have plenty of work to do to overhaul the squad to improve upon a 7th place finish last season, this type of work ethic should settle the Spurs fans’ nerves.

Credited with being pivotal to the deals for Kingsley Coman, Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo, Paratici has a tough task convincing the world’s top talent to move to a club without Champions League football and a trophy for more than a decade.

Seemingly though, if there is one man who can, it is Paratici.
