Tottenham are monitoring Juventus' Gleison Bremer ahead of a potential move

Tottenham have added Juventus' Gleison Bremer, 26, to their list of centre-back targets as they look to strengthen their defence.

The Brazilian has interest from other Premier League sides also, but Spurs are one of the clubs at the front of the queue.

The club are ready to make some moves in the transfer market in a bid to give new manager Ange Postecoglou the best chance of getting off to a positive start in his new role.

Spurs conceded 63 goals in the league last season, the sixth most, and it's likely Postecoglou will see the defence as something to work on as soon as he can.

The club face reported competition from Manchester United and Chelsea, however, and the side that signs Bremer could have to pay up to £50million for his services.

Bremer is a versatile right-sided centre-back, who made 30 league appearances for Juventus last season after signing from their local rivals Torino, where he spent four years.

His only season with the Turin giants was marred by controversy off the pitch as Juventus were on course to finish in the top four of Serie A before they were handed a fresh 10-point deduction for false accounting.

United's main target is Napoli's Kim-min Jae, though it's looking ever more likely that he'll be signing for Bayern Munich this summer.

Tottenham performance director Gretar Steinsson, meanwhile, is set to leave the Premier League club.

Mail Sport understands that the administrator’s role is under huge threat with sources indicating he is set to leave the club.

Steinsson only arrived in June 2022 but he is now on the brink of leaving.

Fabio Paratici’s departure earlier this year amid an ongoing investigation regarding alleged financial irregularities in Italy are understood to have played a role.
