Tottenham confident Son is NOT at risk of coronavirus after letting him go home

Tottenham believe Son Heung-min is not at risk of contracting coronavirus despite allowing him to travel to South Korea for surgery, just 150 miles from two of the worst affected areas in the country.

The forward flew back to his homeland last week for an operation in Seoul on his broken right arm, an injury Jose Mourinho fears could keep him out for the rest of the season.

Sportsmail understands that the decision to allow Son to travel, despite the spread of the virus in Asia, was taken in view of a similar injury he suffered in 2017.

Son had a metal plate inserted in his arm three years ago after fracturing his right forearm.

Son wanted the same surgeon to carry out this latest operation.

Son is recuperating in Korea and is due back in England this week.

Spurs will ensure he follows Government health guidelines for travellers returning from affected countries.

He will not be required to spend time in isolation unless he suffers from symptoms of the virus.

The club are said to be relaxed about his visit to Asia but are expected to ensure he has not been infected.
