Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has escaped injury after driving into a bar in Udine, having reportedly lost control of his car.

Udogie, who is currently on loan at Serie A side Udinese, crashed his car in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Local reports said the 20-year-old crashed his Mercedes SUV into the bar's terrace, with photos of the scene showing damaged tables and umbrellas.

Il Messaggero Veneto confirmed nobody had been hurt in the incident.

The newspaper, which is based in Udine, reported that police arrived at 3am and completed a breathalyser test on the Udogie. Results of the test have not been released.

The owner of the bar reportedly said 'it looks like a bomb has exploded here' when seeing the damage, which could amount to around €3,000 (£2,600).

Udinese confirmed Udogie had been involved in a car accident, but the Serie A side said the Italian under-21 international trained normally on Thursday.

Udogie could face internal disciplinary action from the club over the incident.

'Regarding the news of the road accident which, last night, involved Destiny Udogie driving his car, informs that the player has not suffered any consequences and has trained regularly with the team,' a Udinese statement read.

'Udogie, moreover, as established by the internal regulation, will be sanctioned to the extent foreseen by the same.'

Udogie joined Tottenham last summer on a five-year contract through to 2027, after completing a £15million move from Udinese.

The defender was immediately loaned back to his old club.

Udogie has played 26 matches for Udinese this season, scoring three goals and providing the same number of assists.

The defender has scored eight goals and provided six assists in Serie A during his career to date, after coming through Hellas Verona's academy system before joining Udinese.
