Clive Allen has expressed his frustration with the ongoing wait for Tottenham's new stadium to open, claiming that the situation is 'a cloud hanging over the club'.
Tottenham were scheduled to move into their new 62,062 capacity stadium for the game against Liverpool on September 15, but continued delays have meant that Mauricio Pochettino's team have had to stage their home games at Wembley in the ensuing period.
It has also emerged that Tottenham have extended their stadium loan to £500million to cover the rising costs of the delayed construction.
Senior sources close to the stadium build confirmed that Tottenham extended their line of credit by £100m.
Faulty wiring affecting critical safety systems has been the cause behind the delays.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Allen, who played for Tottenham between 1984 and 1988, said: 'There's a lot of talk that it's nowhere near ready and there are still test events that need to take place.
'As far as the supporters are concerned you can understand their frustration, it was all geared for Liverpool and it didn't happen.
'Really we don't know when the first game will be.
'It will be magnificent when it's done, there's no doubt about that.
'But it is dragging on and it's just a cloud hanging over the club at the moment.'
On Tuesday Tottenham opened Europe's largest club shop, which measures at 23,000 square feet.
There have been suggestions that the Premier League game against Burnley on December 15 could be Tottenham's first game at their new ground, but this has yet to be confirmed.
Tottenham are in Champions League action on Wednesday night as they face PSV away.
