Tottenham have made an enquiry for Djurgardens wonderkid Lucas Bergvall. The 17-year-old Sweden international is lined up to join Barcelona for £8.5m.
Despite that, Spurs could swoop in to sign the promising young midfielder, who has also caught the interest of several clubs around Europe, including Man United, who he had trials with when he was 14.
After rising through the ranks at Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna, he joined Djurgardens in December 2022.
He would go on to make his debut in the Swedish first division not long after his arrival, coming off the bench during a 3-1 win against his former side, Brommapojkarna.
The box-to-box midfielder has an excellent technical ability and can play his team-mates into dangerous positions using his excellent passing ability. He also has an adept understanding of the game and in defence, is known for stepping in at the right time to intercept opposition attacks.
Bergvall made his first start for the club later in May during a 1-0 win against Hacken, before scoring three goals across 28 appearances from midfield, with it being confirmed last month that Barcelona had been interested in signing him.
The 17-year-old is held in such high esteem that he has already made his senior international debut for Sweden, coming on to play 31 minutes during their 2-1 victory against Estonia earlier this January.
Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, meanwhile, wants to stay at the club, according to his lawyer Lars Halgreen.
It comes as Mail Sport understands the midfielder is wanted by Lyon but the French club may fall short of his valuation.
His contract with Spurs expires in 2025, with the Danish international falling down in Ange Postecoglou's pecking order, having made seven starts in 23 appearances across all competitions for the north London outfit.
Speculation has been mounting over the 28-year-old's future at the club as he looks to get more game time ahead of this summer's Euros, with Newcastle also having been linked with the defensive midfielder.
With Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr both having been called up to play at the Africa Cup of Nations, Hojbjerg has started in both of Tottenham's previous matches against Manchester United and Manchester City.

we shall meet here after the deal is done
I'm not saying they won't complete the deal but I'm against the point that Barca have no issue paying 8.5m .for now that's a big amount so far for Barca

Why would he sign for Tottenham? If I were him I'd rather join BvB or arsenal.
