Tottenham 'plot cut-price January move for Celtic ace Kieran Tierney'

Tottenham are said to be plotting a January move for Celtic left back Kieran Tierney.

Spurs were among a host of Premier League teams to show interest in the Scotland international over the summer but — like Everton and Bournemouth — were put off by Celtic's £25million asking price.

Celtic have since been knocked out of the Champions League and their qualifying defeat by AEK Athens was a  blow which will cost the club millions of pounds.

According to The Express, Celtic now need to make up a £27m shortfall in income and Tottenham hope to take advantage of their vulnerable position by tabling a £10m mid-season bid for 21-year-old Tierney.

Fans' favourite Tierney, who watched Saturday's 3-1 win over Partick Thistle among Celtic's travelling supporters, played 60 games for club and country last season and has experience beyond his years.

Were he to move to Tottenham in the New Year Tierney would likely provide competition for Ben Davies, with Danny Rose's future at the club uncertain.

Davies played the full 90 minutes for the second weekend running as he helped Spurs maintain their perfect start to the season with a 3-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.

Rose was an unused substitute against Fulham and could yet leave the club later this month if a European buyer can be found.

Spurs tried to sell Rose this summer, while Toby Alderweireld — who played whole game against Fulham — was also touted to other clubs.

But, when quizzed directly about Alderweireld on Saturday, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted that all of his players remained committed to the cause.

'I won't talk about him,' Pochettino said of Alderweireld. 'I'll talk in general always. I want players committed with the team.

'Players that are not happy, from my point of view, can leave. Then it's different if they can negotiate with Daniel (Levy, Tottenham's chairman) or not.

'But I want players who are fully committed with the team and want to fight for the team. The players that are here are all committed. Not one told me today that they wanted to find a solution.

'Today, I am so open to listen to players if they want to leave. But if they are going to be here, I want full commitment. If not, tomorrow we can find a solution. I am so tired talking about this.'
