Tottenham 'set to rival Chelsea for South Korean centre-back Kim Min-jae'

Tottenham are reportedly ready to rival Chelsea for highly-rated South Korean centre-back Kim Min-jae.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be preparing to ramp up interest in the 6ft 4in defender known as 'The Monster' amid concerns of competition from Spurs' London rivals.

Spurs were first interested in Son Heung-min's international team-mate last summer as a replacement for Jan Vertonghen, according to The Mirror.

With Chelsea entering the race, they claim that Spurs are plotting a fresh move now to ward off their advances.

The Blues famously gazumped Tottenham to the signing of Willian back in 2013, and they will be keen to avoid a repeat of that episode.

Beijing Guoan are ready to cash in on the 24-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of 2021.

Mourinho was critical of his side this week after they once again let a slender lead slip in a 1-1 home draw with Fulham.

'Three or four big chances in the first half to have a different result and the biggest chance of the second half to kill the game and go 2-0, but again we conceded a goal that is completely avoidable', he said.

'I have to admit in the second half that they played more and they tried, they had to, but again we didn't kill the game.

'It is costing points and many times it happens in the last part of the game.

'There are things that are individual - individual qualities and individual mistakes. Basically, I can not say much more than that.'
